Berry Global Group Inc. is a company based in the USA that produces innovative plastic packaging and engineered products for various
applications, from agriculture to transportation, from food to personal health. Founded in 1967 at Evansville, Indiana, initially the plant employed three workers and produced aerosol caps, by injection molding machine. Over the years, it has become an industry leader and today boasts over 265 locations and 46,000 employees globally. Berry Global\u2019s sustainability policy is reflected in its commitment to operate responsibly reducing environmental impact, proper waste management, material innovation, and social responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In December 2021, an EP-X 1400A was installed at the Zeller Plastik plant in Orio Litta, Italy, which belongs to the Berry Global Group for
the production of plastic items. The EP-X system was positioned immediately after the MV\/LV transformer with a special protection relay (ABB Ekip-Up). This transformer powers electrical loads that draw a power of about 774kW, with an annual energy consumption
of about 2.800.000 kWh. The loads fed by this transformer are predominantly not controlled by power electronics. At the end of december 2022, a new EP-X 1250A was installed at Berry Global\u2019s plant in Zele, Belgium, for the production of plastic packaging.
The EP-X system has been positioned near the main electrical panel downstream of the transformer A and the main switch, powering
the printing department which absorbs about 800kW, with an annual energy consumption of 2,739,565 kWh. The loads powered by this transformer are mainly controlled by power electronics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given the company\u2019s objectives in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability,
\nthe customer wanted to test a new and effective solution for the efficiency of its
\nproduction sites, which would allow a return on the investment in a sufficiently
